Socelor (Saw-shell-or) = has roots in the term “higher-order thinking” and underpins our core purpose: to support the development of abstract cognitive enablers, the skills that come with higher-order thinking.
Socelor also pays homage to the great Athenian philosopher, Socrates, one of the founders of Western philosophy. Socrates established the importance of seeking evidence, and closely examining reasoning and assumptions,. His method of questioning, known as “Socratic Questioning” is an approach adopted in our methods.
