Social Cognition for the Curious Mind

This module opens up the fascinating world of social cognition, inviting you to explore how we perceive, interpret, and respond to other people in our dynamic social landscape. Each week, you will choose the aspects that spark your curiosity—such as social perception, stereotypes, empathy, moral judgments, group dynamics, persuasion, and the influence of culture on thinking and relationships. Integrating psychological theory, recent research, and everyday experiences, the module encourages critical analysis of how social thinking shapes identity, decision-making, and behavior at individual and collective levels. Through reflective writing, group discussions, and investigation of current social phenomena, you develop a deeper, nuanced understanding of yourself and others.

Jesse Martin

Professor Martin is the founder and principle of Socelor. With decades of experience teaching, Dr. Martin took his background in cognitive psychology and developed a method of teaching that fosters the learning of ACEs with great success in his former university (Bangor University – Wales).
