Socelor Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 8, 2026
1. Who We Are
Socelor is an online learning platform operated by Jesse Martin, carrying on business as Socelor.com, located in Raymond, Alberta, Canada T0K 2S0. Our website is socelor.com. You can contact us at [email protected].
2. What Information We Collect
When you register:
- Name and email address (via WooCommerce/WordPress account creation)
- Password (stored in encrypted form — we never see it in plain text)
When you enrol in a module:
- Enrolment records including which module and cohort you joined, enrolment date, and payment status
- Order information for paid modules (processed through WooCommerce)
When you participate in a module:
- Blog posts you write on our student platform (socelor.org)
- Comments you leave on other students’ blog posts, along with your IP address and browser user agent string (collected to assist with spam detection)
- AI-generated evaluations of your blog posts (see Section 6)
When you leave comments:
- We collect the data shown in the comment form, your IP address, and your browser user agent string to help with spam detection
- An anonymized string derived from your email address (a hash) may be shared with the Gravatar service to check whether you have a profile picture associated with your email. Gravatar’s privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy. If your comment is approved, your profile picture may be visible publicly alongside your comment.
If you upload images:
- If you upload images to the site, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the site can download and extract any location data from images you upload.
Embedded content:
- Pages on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images, or articles from other websites. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited those other websites directly. Those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that content — including if you are logged in to an account on their platform.
Automatically collected:
- Standard WordPress session cookies necessary for login and site function
- WooCommerce session cookies necessary for checkout
- We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party tracking or advertising cookies
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information only to:
- Create and manage your account
- Process enrolments and payments
- Deliver course content and facilitate cohort participation
- Generate AI-assisted evaluations of your submitted work
- Communicate with you about your enrolment or account
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Where Your Data Is Stored
Your data is stored on servers operated by Bluehost, located in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. By registering with Socelor, you consent to your data being stored in the United States. Bluehost maintains industry-standard security practices. You can review Bluehost’s privacy practices at bluehost.com.
5. Your Student Work
You own your work. Blog posts you write during a module remain your intellectual property at all times.
Deleting your work:
- Blog posts you have written can be deleted directly from the student blog platform. We are also building a self-service deletion tool in your student profile area to make this easier — until that is available, you can contact us at [email protected] and we will delete any specified posts within 14 days.
- To request deletion of your AI evaluations, contact us at [email protected] and we will remove them within 14 days.
- Comments you have left on other students’ blog posts cannot currently be self-deleted. You may request their removal by contacting us — note that removing comments may affect the continuity of other students’ discussion threads, and in some cases we may retain a redacted version for that reason.
- Enrolment records are retained for a minimum of 2 years for administrative and financial record-keeping purposes even after account deletion.
6. AI Evaluation Disclosure
Socelor uses an AI system (OpenAI’s ChatGPT) to generate evaluations of student blog post submissions. These evaluations are:
- Generated automatically based on the content of your submission
- Stored in our database and accessible to you through your student dashboard
- Used to provide you with formative feedback on your work
- Not used to make final pass/fail determinations without human review
Your submitted work is transmitted to OpenAI’s servers for processing. OpenAI’s privacy policy, available at openai.com/privacy, governs how they handle that data. We do not share your name or personal account details with OpenAI — only the text content of your submission.
7. Cookies
We use only the following cookies:
| Cookie | Purpose | Type |
|---|---|---|
| WordPress login cookie | Keeps you logged in | Functional |
| WooCommerce session | Maintains your cart/checkout | Functional |
| WordPress comment author | Remembers your name for comments | Functional |
These cookies are strictly necessary for the site to function. We do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies. Because we use only functional cookies, we do not require your consent to set them under most privacy frameworks — however we notify you of their use as a matter of good practice.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you
- Request a copy of your personal information
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your personal information (subject to our retention obligations noted in Section 5)
- Withdraw consent to our use of your information (note: withdrawal may prevent us from delivering course services)
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Data Retention
